Charting Your Personal + Professional Legacy

At Triannual 2, we set a BOLD VISION for our future at Trinity Health – to build a world-renown culture and institution here in Minot.

We have all the right tools – a brand new, state-of-the-art facility opening this spring, a great community of support, and a staff and leadership team that is poised and ready with the right energy, motivation, and tools to usher in this positive change.

As we work to build that collective vision, take some time over this Labor Day weekend to work on charting your personal legacy, too.

Look back on the history of all the work you’ve done up until this point.
-What were the highs and lows of each job you’ve had along the way?
-Who were the coaches, teachers, and mentors who impacted you most as a leader?
-What have you learned and what skills and abilities are unique to your experience that can be a great asset to help Trinity Health achieve its bold vision?

Look ahead to the legacy you’d like to leave –
-What is still yet in front of you to accomplish and do?
-What skills would you love to master?
-Who is building their career behind you that needs a mentor and coach with the skills that you possess?
-How can you offer guidance and support to them as they grow?

Taking charge of the legacy you’d like to leave and mapping how you can make the most of the years you have left in your career will feel incredibly empowering. You may be surprised just how much you’ve accomplished and overcome in your work as a leader and can gain a new sense of purpose and mission when you see what goals and milestones still lay ahead.

You can build out your roadmap on a blank note page in your planner or type it up and print it to keep posted at your desk for additional encouragement and motivation.

Leadership Development Plan

The Trinity Leadership Quest is designed to provide training and tools to help us develop around each of the four focuses of a leader: resilience, engagement, experience, and innovation.

Winning in these areas will help us be well-rounded leaders who can meet any challenge that will arise for us in healthcare and help us fulfill Trinity Health’s priority goals around Making More Possible.

We’ve had several touchpoints for training and developing our skills over the past several months of our quest and all material is available via replay on the Trinity Leadership Quest Microsite – a website hub to serve as our one-stop go-to for everything we need along the quest.

As you work to map out your personal and professional legacy, take some time to go back to each of these training touchpoints and sharpen your skills.

-What topics did you find to be challenging and convicting?
-Where can you take small steps toward implementing a 1% change?
-What topic can you and your team commit to mastering this year?
-How can you build in coaching and accountability around those goals?
-What do you still have left to learn to be an even greater leader?

Let us know what you’re tackling this month and share your wins for what’s been working for you and your team.
